My passion for music, guitars and The Beatles has led me to an unusual and very fulfilling hobby. Two important things happened to me in the early sixties. The Beatles happened and my older brother played in a local band. Both things had a huge effect on me. I’ve been fascinated with guitars my entire life. The world’s most versatile instrument. I was particularly struck by electric guitar and bass. I’ve also always been a builder. I love creating things. My dad was the same way, always building, creating, or improving something.
This led me to attempting to build my own guitar. Many mistakes and much experience later I’m finally getting there. It’s an incredibly satisfying hobby, taking raw wood and watching it come to life, make music, and become something that's hard to believe I made with my hands. At the same time, it can be incredibly frustrating. It’s very easy to go wrong and make disastrous mistakes. There was a time when these mistakes devastated me. Now I expect them, embrace them, and see what I’ve learned, and watch what opportunities come from them.
